About our logo
The intertwining D’s in the firm’s logo represent the legal partnership of attorneys Randell C. Doane and Rebecca G. Doane. As a husband and wife legal team, with each attorney specializing in specific areas of practice, the Doanes have a commitment that goes far beyond the confines of the office. Their commitment encompasses their personal goals for Doane and Doane, P.A. which they founded together in order to provide a variety of legal services to their clients that achieve the very highest standards of excellence at customary costs which are reasonable and affordable.
The symbol of the pineapple was chosen to be an integral part of the firm logo because of its legendary prominence in history. The Doanes were intrigued with the historical significance of the pineapple which dates back to the days of the early American colonies. Legend tells of New England sea captains sailing to and from the Caribbean Islands. Ships returning home were laden with exotic cargos from the islands such as fruits and spices. Once the captain of such a ship arrived at his home, he would spear a pineapple on his fence post to let friends know of his safe return from the sea and to invite them to visit and share the abundance of his voyage and hear tales of faraway places. Thus the pineapple became a symbol of hospitality.
Also during colonial times, visiting friends and neighbors were the primary means of entertainment, cultural intercourse and news dissemination. Visitor status was often recognized by foods served. Because of its delicacy and rarity, the pineapple transitioned into being not only a symbol of hospitality but a symbol of visitor status as well. If you were offered pineapple, you were being regarded by your hosts as a very special visitor indeed!
Randell and Rebecca Doane hope that all their clients, friends and business associates will enjoy the hospitality of their firm’s legal staff and will feel as though they have been “offered pineapple” throughout their association with Doane and Doane, P.A.
